Assistant Editor-in-Chief
Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber

Esteemed colleagues, dear friends,

It is my great honor and pleasure to present to you the second issue of our Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber in 2023. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to collaborate and participate in the editing of our Journal within the team led by our Editor-in-Chief, Professor Milena Šantrić Milićević, PhD.

As in all previous issues, the aim of the Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber is to justify all our expectations, with the help of our esteemed colleagues. Once again, we present to you a number of high-quality professional and scientific papers written by our respected colleagues, whose experience and research results presented in this issue will certainly be of great value to you in your daily profes- sional and scientific work.

At the beginning, I would like to highlight the original research presented by Jelena Zajc, titled As- sociation between alcohol consumption and arterial hypertension. This cross-sectional study reports on the research conducted in the wider area of the City of Pančevo, presenting results which demonstrate that there is no connection between the consumption of alcoholic beverages and arterial hypertension.

We further present to you a review article from the field of modern orthopedic surgery, written by Dejan Aleksandrić et al., titled Bone Transplantation in Orthopaedic Surgery. Bone transplantation is pos- sible because bone tissue, unlike most other tissues, is capable of complete regeneration, if it is provided with adequate conditions and the space into which it will grow. In this paper, you can find the answers to the questions regarding the types of grafts used in bone transplantation, in orthopedic surgery.

Radojka Cerović Popović et al. contributed to this issue of the Journal with their article Spontaneous uterine rupture during pregnancy.

It seems that, as of late, in our country, the Ministry of Health, as well as the special bodies within the Serbian Medical Chamber, have placed particular emphasis on raising awareness about the importance of organ transplantation, as well as on the development of this field. In their article Computed tomogra- phy evaluation of donors within preoperative preparation for living-donor kidney transplantation, Bojana Mišković et al. stressed the importance of radiological assessment of potential living kidney donors. The key to a good radiology report is knowing the surgical techniques and difficulties that surgeons may face during the kidney transplant process.

In 2020, there were 1.3 million pregnant women with HIV worldwide. Radmila Sparić et al. investi- gated the topic Human immunodeficiency virus infection in pregnancy, concluding that the decision on therapy, as well as on the time and method of delivery, should be individual and made based on the viral load, the clinical presentation of HIV infection of the mother, and the condition of the fetus.

With the aim of improving the quality of life of patients and reducing mortality from sarcoidosis, Nikola Marić et al. highlighted the importance of implementing recommendations, in their review ar- ticle titled European Respiratory Society practice guidelines in treatment of sarcoidosis: clinical approach and suggestions”.

The paper written by Marija Stanojević et al., Revising the role of magnesium in epilepsy research and management, can be found at the end of the section of the Journal containing review articles.

We conclude this issue of the Journal with a case report presented by Vesna Martić et al. titled

Myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy in a patient with recurrent thymoma.

We believe that this issue continues to justify our faith in the quality of the Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber, which traditionally presents high-quality professional and scientific papers, there- fore proving that it deserves to be categorized in the near future. It would be a great pleasure and honor if you joined us with your contributions in one of the following issues of the Journal.

Sincerely
